What is Operating System ?

In Simple words, operating system is a type of system software. An operating system is like an interface between a computer user and computer hardware. It help us communicate and work with computers.

You probably might have worked with operating system like Windows or macOS.

But , as a hacker, you might have to bid goodbye to these and get hands-on with an operating system called Linux.

What is Windows?


Windows is a graphical operating system developed by Microsoft. It allows users to view and store files, run the software, play games, watch videos, and provides a way to connect to the internet. 

Microsoft introduced the first version as 1.0. It was released for both home computing and professional functions of Windows 10 November 1983.

What is MacOS?


macOS is a series of proprietary graphical operating systems developed and marketed by Apple Inc. since 2001. It is the primary operating system for Apple's Mac computers. The family of Macintosh operating systems developed by Apple Inc. includes the graphical user interface-based operating systems.

Mac OS is the computer operating system for Apple Computer's Macintosh line of personal computers and workstations. A popular feature of its latest version, Mac OS X, is a desktop interface with some 3-D appearance characteristics. It runs UNIX applications as well as older Mac applications.

What is Linux?



Linux is one of the most powerful operating systems. As a matter of fact, mobile OS- Android is powered by Linux.

Linux has various open-source distributions such as Ubuntu, Red Hat, Backtrack, Kali, etc. We will be using Kali Linux as our choice of OS to learn hacking.

Kali is an operating system designed by hackers for hackers and something that you might work with regularly in your learning journey.

What is Android?


Android is one of the most used mobile operating systems and one of the most vulnerable ones.

Android is an open-source and Linux-Based Operating System for mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablet computers. Android was developed by the Open Handset Alliance, led by Google, and other companies.

Android offers a unified approach to application development for mobile devices, which means, develops need only develop for android , and their applications should be able to run on different devices powered by Android.
